Classroom Random Name Picker for Teachers
Call on students fairly, form groups, and keep cold-calling even — one class list, one wheel.
Loaded with the Class roster example — spin it now, or edit the list.
Why use a wheel for this
Calling on the same eager hands leaves quieter students out and lets others tune out. A name wheel makes participation visibly fair: every student is an equal slice, and the class can see the pick was random, not a teacher’s pet pick.
Paste your roster once and reuse it all term. For cold-calling, spin and ask; for "everyone gets a turn", switch on no-repeat so each name is removed as it’s called and nobody is asked twice until the wheel resets.
It also makes quick groups: turn on no-repeat and spin down the list, sending students to Group 1, 2, 3 in turn — fast, fair, and no "but I was with them last time".
How to do it with SpinPick
- Paste your class roster, one student per line, and save it as a list to reuse.
- Spin to cold-call; turn on "Remove winner" so every student gets a turn.
- For groups, keep no-repeat on and spin down the list, assigning each name to the next group.
